Returning for a third year, Blackpool’s “Sea, Sand & Spray” urban art festival brought together 40 of the best-known street artists to Blackpool over the weekend, and endowed upon the town some seriously good art.

Smug, Kashink, Dale Grimshaw & Toasters were among those painting some of the spaces set aside around the town – artists who are renowned for the quality of their work. I was particularly interested to check out Smug’s huge wall, having covered spaces in Edinburgh and Glasgow with his super-realistic trippy portraits in the past.

Some nice finds too in the shape of Shai Dahan and Jon Drypnz (who recently visited Edinburgh and painted alongside Elph) both of whom created some great work over the weekend, and will be ones to keep an eye on.

From buildings on the cusp of demolition to antique trams, there was a good variety of surfaces to be covered during the 3 day festival, and ultimately some great work that’s brightened up Blackpool again following the success of the 2011 & 12 editions.
