The dust has now settled after ‘Hidden Door‘, Edinburgh’s premier DIY arts and music festival, but we are left with a fantastic fiery large scale mural by Edinburgh artist collective, Blameless.
Having made their name completing large murals for the Leith Late project, they sunk their teeth into the unique vaults of Edinburgh’s East Market Street.
The space has been calling out for a project like this for some time, so it’s great to see it being put to good use.
Edinburgh’s only legal painting spot on New Street would appear to have its days numbered thanks to the controversial Caltongate development proposal, so it’s encouraging to see the city council still are open to public art projects, albeit of a more structured and organised nature.
Fraser Gray, one of the artists in the collective, intimated that the mural may have a relatively short shelf life, so if you’re in town, and want to see the work in person, make that trip sooner rather than later.
