Buff Monster, the Hawaiian-born artist who currently lives in LA, recently completed a monster mural (in more ways than one) in his current city near the Standard Hotel at 550 South Flower & Sixth Street. More info and photos after the jump.
Citing heavy metal music, ice cream, Japanese culture, and most importantly the colour pink, as major influences in his work it’s clear to see these themes at work here. Buff Monsters career started by putting up thousands of hand-silkscreened posters across LA and other cities. These trips to post his work soon cultivated a productive street art career. He has since painted with the likes of Cope2, probably one of the biggest names, in NYC’s trainwriting boom in the 70s.
He now works on fine art paintings, collectible toys and select design projects. For more information on the man, his work and store, check out his website here; http://buffmonster.com/. UKB
